Welcome! I’m Austin Eichelberger and this is an archive of my writing and art that’s already out in the world.
Over 80 pieces of my creative writing, mostly fiction, have been published or are forthcoming from journals and anthologies including Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine, Pithead Chapel and Nanosim. I placed first in Fictionade Magazine‘s 250-Word Short Story Contest in 2012, won fourth place in the 2016 Larry Brown Short Story Award, and in 2017, I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. For links to some of my published work, go to the Writing page.
I earned my MA in English and Creative Writing with a focus on Fiction from Longwood University in 2009 while working as a Graduate Assistant on the editorial staff of The Dos Passos Review. Since then, I’ve taught university-level writing and worked professionally as an editor, book designer, bookseller, photographer, creative consultant and writing coach. In that time, I also co-founded SPACES and founded the Twitter-journal Tiny Text. In 2018, I earned my MFA in Fiction from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and now I’m happy to serve as a full-time professor of English at the Santa Fe Community College and as Fiction Editor for the Santa Fe Literary Review.
I’m revising my first novel right now and probably also writing flash fiction, taking photos and making collages. If you’d like to buy prints or collaborate on a project, get in touch anytime via this form or by e-mailing austin.eichelberger@gmail.com.
